Philanthropy is Failing Us
The “strategic philanthropy” approach isn't working.
Most funders continue to work in fragmented ways, focusing on single intervention projects that fail to address the root causes of inequality.
Fortunately, there is an antidote: networks and movements are powerful strategies to shift systems and power – and create deeper, greater, more sustainable impact.
Yet We Estimate That:
Less than 0.4% of the $70 billion in philanthropy is awarded to networks and movements around the globe.
And most of these networks are able to resource only about 20-30% of their total network needs.
Unlocking the Potential of Philanthropy
Over the past few years, the Fito Network has engaged hundreds of funders and network leaders in a wide diversity of activities focused on funding networks.
We have carefully mapped the challenges inherent in funding networks – and deeply understand the needs, nuances of power, and ingredients necessary for philanthropy to shift.
We have also witnessed the shining lights of many brave pioneers innovating new practices to invest in networks, revealing a rich treasure trove of knowledge and experience yet to be tapped.

How We Shift Philanthropy
The Fito Network’s approach to shifting philanthropy connects funders to build new relationships, exchange best practices, and find ways they can work together to change the funding paradigm.
Throughout our work, we aim to make sure the Fito spirit is infused and kept alive. Our experience has been that funders are made up of people, too – who just as much as anyone else appreciate creative, collaborative, and fun spaces.
